April 27, 2010, " Captive or Captivated?"

Purposefully I went on a walk this evening. Each intentional footstep was with great effort. Suddenly, I became enthralled by the vibrant blue sky and the thick, puffy white clouds that moved so gracefully above me! Enamored by the ray's of the sun that shone through as the warm rays surrounded me as a beautiful embrace. The embrace captivated me with the beauty that surrounded me especially as the beauty intensified when listening to my favorite song by Rich Mullins' titled, My Deliverer . I was moved to tears as this song played numerous times as I walked. The one line that moved me was 'Jesus listened to the song that the captive children used to sing
They were singin'
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
Through a dry and thirsty land, water from the Kenyon heights
Pours itself out of Lake Sangra's broken heart
There in the Sahara winds Jesus heard the whole world cry
For the healing that would flow from His own scars
The world was singing
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
He will never break His promise - He has written it upon the sky
...though the stars should break faith with the sky
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by..."

As you read these words, I pray that you are so overwhelmed by the Glory of God that is revealed so beautifully through His creation!

I am reminded today of My Deliverer. When the issues of life attempt to snatch the hope of being delivered...let these beautiful words remind us of what the captive children sang. As they sang, they were set free from the captivity and delivered into the glorious Deliverer who captivates our hearts!

I can either be in captivity, bound to despair and the feeling of 'there is no way out'... or I can finally be set free and captivated by God's glorious light revealed by His glorious Holiness and Grace!
