October 13, 2009, "She Dances Unto The Redeemer"

TRIUMPHANT VICTORIOUS REMINDERS
Inspired by the Holy Spirit
Written by: Teresa Criswell

"The young women will dance for joy, and the men ~ old and young ~ will join in the celebration. I will turn their mourning into joy. I will comfort them and exchange their sorrow for rejoicing."
~ Jeremiah 31:13 ~

"And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,
and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil."
~ Luke 7:37-38 ~

A beautiful woman dances in the back of the church. The church filled with many people. People 'snicker' and with great haughtiness say among themselves and even in their hearts, "Who does she think she is?" Immediately they disqualify her because of her rare expression of her love for God.

Yet, as they snickered, made fun, and judged her, little do they know why she dances so freely. She dances for her Redeemer. She dances to the song of deliverance that He sings over her life. She dances to the 'Mercy Seat'. I weep as I type knowing that at one time in her life she had danced around a pole, surrounded by perversion. As I heard this story from Pastor Kim I realized even moreso the powerful meaning of being Redeemed and our Redeemer!

She dances now unto her Redeemer. He redeemed her from her past. He redeemed her from the darkness and into His glorious light. More than anything, He redeemed her dance.

As I think of this woman, I am convicted of my life. As Pastor Kim spoke forth truth of the Word by the leading of the Spirit of God, she said something so powerful! It was so powerful, she said, "We disqualify people that God has qualified." We even disqualify ourselves, when God has qualified us.

I praise God that this woman did not disqualify herself, when many people did. I praise God that this woman did not disqualify herself because of her past. She allowed Mighty God to qualify her as she pursued His heart with great passion.

May we praise God that He has qualified us. He has called us Worthy! Hallelujah! Thank you my Father God!

Lyrics to the
'Alabaster Box'
CeCe Winans

"The room grew still
As she made her way to Jesus
She stumbles through the tears that made her blind
She felt such pain
Some spoke in anger
Heard folks whisper
There's no place here for her kind
Still on she came
Through the shame that flushed her face
Until at last, she knelt before his feet
And though she spoke no words
Everything she said was heard
As she poured her love for the Master
From her box of alabaster

Refrain

And I've come to pour
My praise on Him
Like oil from Mary's alabaster box
Don't be angry if I wash his feet with my tears
And I dry them with my hair
You weren't there the night He found me
You did not feel what I felt
When he wrapped his love all around me and
You don't know the cost of the oil
In my alabaster box

I can't forget the way life used to be
I was a prisoner to the sin that had me bound
And I spent my days
Poured my life without measure
Into a little treasure box
I'd thought I'd found

Until the day when Jesus came to me
And healed my soul
With the wonder of His touch
So now I'm giving back to Him
All the praise He's worthy of
I've been forgiven
And that's why
I love Him so much

Refrain

And I've come to pour
My praise on Him
Like oil from Mary's alabaster box
Don't be angry if I wash his feet with my tears
And dry them with my hair (my hair)
You weren't there the night Jesus found me
You did not feel what I felt
When He wrapped his loving arms around me and
You don't know the cost of the oil
Oh, you don't know the cost of my praise
You don't know the cost of the oil
In my alabaster box"

  1. Good post. My pride or haughty attitude gets in the way sometimes. She was in freedom... the snickerers were in bondage. :O)

  2. Hi Teresa, thanks for checking out my blog. I'm hoping to spark some conversation from it--my mind tends to wander a bit sometimes and I like getting into "deep" conversations about things; it really shows the true-ness of someone when you can get past the shallow, superficial worldly influences. May God bless you!
