June 2, 2009 "Can not Can't"

Triumphant Victorious Reminders
Inspired by the Holy Spirit
By: Teresa Criswell

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
~ Philippians 4:13 ~

"I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner stregth into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]."
~ Philippians 4:13 ~ Amplified Version

The following is the phrase I received yesterday during my cycling class which was extremely challenging, yet worth the challenge. The cycling instructor who was a 'mad man' shouted with passion, "'Can't' is not in your vocabulary, do you understand?" Of course I have heard this statement many times, however, this time the Lord used that statement to open my eyes a little more to HIS unimaginable Truth.

I wrote down the following, "God provides the "can" through Christ when the opportunity to say, "I can't" is readily available."

It brings me to this thought Lord. Why is it when many of us give our lives over to You and allow You to become the Master of our life through Jesus, enpowered by the Holy Spirit, it seems as though we unknowingly allow this 'religious' bondage to come onto us as we say, "I can't" do that.

Do any of these phrases sound familiar?
* I'm a Christian now; I can't drink.
* I'm a Christian now; I can't do drugs anymore.
* I'm a Christian now; I can't talk like that.
For those who are not married yet:
* I'm a Christian now; I can't go that far with my boyfriend or girlfriend or fiance.

Lord, help me to rephrase the way I speak. Even when it 'seems' like the right thing to say.
I want to say and reveal to others that are following You what we can say instead:

* I'm a Christ follower; I can be free from drinking as I now have the Joy of the Lord.
* I'm a Christ follower; I can be free of any drug as You have provided a way of escape for me.
* I'm a Christ follower; I can be free of speaking curses and I now get to speak blessings.
For those who are not married yet:
* I'm a Christ follower; I can go as far with my boyfriend, girlfriend or fiance as I would if my parents or pastor were in the room (With most you probably wouldn't even kiss...LOL! I got that one regarding 'How far is too far?' from the book, 'Kissed the Girls and Made them Cry' by Lisa Bevere).

Lord, I pray that we do not give You our bondage to take hold of the counterfeit which is that religious bondage. Lord, I thank you that you are our Refuge and Stronghold. Lord, I thank you that you have made a way to escape from temptation that we may be able to bear it. Thank you for equipping us with the "I can" through Christ Jesus Who is our Strength. Thank you for a freedom outlook on serving you versus a bondage outlook.

May we be strengthened today, by the "I can do all things through Christ (that are pleasing to Him) Who strengthens us."

Lord, I want to reveal freedom to show that I am bound to You versus being bound to religion. Religion hurts people; Relationship with God through Jesus Christ heals, and makes whole in all areas. Remember we are works in progress....just keep progressing, keep going.

Regression starts when progress stops.
